This Cookie Policy explains how Profspect (Pty) Ltd, operator of the In-Odyssey platform ("In-Odyssey", "we", "us" or "our"), uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our learning platform. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. They allow a website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, and settings) over a period of time, so you don't have to re-enter them every time you come back or move between pages.

2. Cookies we use

We keep the cookies we use to a minimum, and only use what is necessary to operate the platform securely and provide the features you choose to use.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies to build profiles for marketing purposes outside of the platform.

3. Third-party cookies

A small number of cookies are set by services we embed on the platform rather than by In-Odyssey directly:

• Google Translate — powers the on-page language-translation widget for all 11 official South African languages. Google's own privacy policy applies to the operation of this widget.
• hCaptcha — protects registration, login and contact forms from spam and automated abuse.
• Google / LinkedIn OAuth — only used if you actively choose to sign in with Google or LinkedIn.
• PayFast / Ozow — only used during checkout for payments.

These providers may set their own cookies in line with their respective cookie and privacy policies, over which In-Odyssey has no direct control.

4. Managing your cookie preferences

Because the strictly necessary cookies (session and CSRF) are required for the platform to function — for example, to keep you logged in and to protect forms from attack — they cannot be switched off without affecting your ability to use In-Odyssey.

You can still control cookies through your browser settings:

• Block or delete cookies: most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies from individual sites in their privacy/security settings.
• Language preference: if you switch the translate widget back to "English", the googtrans cookie is cleared automatically.
• Optional sign-in/payment cookies: these are only set if you choose to use Google/LinkedIn sign-in or a card/EFT payment provider — simply don't use those options if you'd prefer not to set them.

Please note that blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies will likely prevent you from logging in or using core features of the platform.

5. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce a new feature that uses a cookie. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
